Sad day for Apex Legends: adult film actor Johnny Sins has had his name censored in-game

It’s a hard day for the Apex Legends community. Adult movie star, plumber, doctor, construction worker, and master of numerous other trades Johnny Sins has had his name censored in Apex Legends. This harrowing news was uncovered by streamer Kap3 and posted on Reddit, it seems like typing out the actors name with proper spacing and punctuation results in both words being blocked out.

Now, chat censors are important in hugely-popular multiplayer games for obvious reasons. You can’t have words that are super offensive – such as slurs – usable in a game like Apex Legends, unless you want it to become a cesspit of toxicity. However, this specific situation is a bit of a head scratcher, since while Mr. Sins is a man enveloped in subject matter that is inherently NSFW, he’s not some Voldemort-esque figure nor a person whose name or work is particularly offensive. It seems as though he’s just been shafted.

This funnily enough isn’t the first time Johnny Sins and Apex Legends have collided. Back in Season Seven, players paid the actor on Cameo (a service that allows people to pay for personalized video messages from a wide range of celebrities) to send a message to Respawn Entertainment urging them to add and change certain aspects of the game.

PlayStation boss Jim Ryan calls out Bobby Kotick over Activision Blizzard scandal

In a letter reportedly sent to staff, Ryan noted that he has contacted Activision to express “deep concern” at the ongoing scandal that’s gripped Activision Blizzard over the past few months.

Per Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier, Ryan was prompted to reach out to the company following a Wall Street Journal report that suggested the Activsion Blizzard CEO reportedly knew about allegations against the company for years and intentionally hid instances of sexual harrassment from the board.

In the email, Ryan apparently linked the WSJ report, and noted that he (along with PlayStation leadership) were “disheartened and frankly stunned to read [that Activision] has not done enough to address a deep-seated culture of discrimination and harassment.” Bloomberg reports that Ryan sent the email to Kotick and the company “immediately after the [WSJ] article was published”.

Black Friday PS4 controller deals 2021: Best offers for Sony PlayStation 4 controllers

Although Black Friday brings about excellent deals on games, consoles, monitors, and other big-ticket items, smaller accessories are also prone to being discounted.

With many games still coming out on the PlayStation 4 – particularly as supplies for new consoles remain constrained – it’s worth enjoying everything the console has to offer. That might also mean replacing that controller of yours that’s starting to show its age. Or, even better, buying an extra controller for someone to join you on your virtual adventures. And don’t forget to add any charging docks that you’ll need to keep your controllers juiced up and ready.

Here in the UK, if you’re seeking the official controller, Amazon has £10 off the RRP. And you can save even more by using a high-quality third-party controller that’ll work just as great!

Battlefield 2042 gets day one patch, but it doesn’t fix the game’s biggest problems

DICE has launched a new update for Battlefield 2042 this week. Following one hour of maintenance, during which servers went offline.

This is effectively the game’s first “post-launch” patch, following last Friday’s early access launch. The update prepares Battlefield 2042 for the worldwide, public launch of the standard edition today – when the game is expected to attract its largest audience.

DICE shared full patch notes ahead of release, and needless to say, the fixes are disappointing, considering the myriad of issues the game has at the moment. Though many of the patch notes concern Hazard Zone, there are some welcome fixes overall for the rest of the game.

Best Black Friday 2021 gaming laptop deals

Gaming laptops are one of the best investments to look into on Black Friday, just for hundreds of dollars you can save on one of these portable gaming devices. Pricier laptops tend to come with higher end specs that can store and handle more graphically demanding games, useful at a time when desktop GPUs aren’t in wide availability. However, it’s important to get one that can handle your gaming lifestyle for a reasonable price.

Not all PC gamers are the same. Some just want a budget laptop to lug around as a backup to their homebound setup. Others want a higher-end device that could take on beefier games that demand more resources.
